A number of us attended last spring's Viasakhi Celebration at the Gurdwara just south of Lynden. A special time to met wonderful Punjabi folk, eat their great vegetarian dishes, and take in the background and meaning of this day. Sorry the video quality is not the best. FRIENDS of OUR PUNJABI NEIGHBORS: We as individuals and families living in Whatcom County, desire very much to form meaningful relationships with our Punjabi neighbors. For way too long - our dominant culture (white European descendants) have ignored, disregarded and at times cast racist actions toward Punjabi Sikhs. We as members of Friends of Our Punjabi Neighbors are actively seeking to welcome, honor and learn from our east Indian friends.
